Hi, my name is Aalyiah Doctor, a North Carolina native and creative currently pursuing a master’s degree in Library Information Science at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with the goal of becoming an archivist and documentarian. Beyond my studies, I’ve worked as a video editor for the past 7 years. I specialize in documentary, music video, and podcast editing. In the past, I’ve collaborated with various creatives, including YouTube channel “ModernGurlz,” for whom I’ve edited video essays for the past 4 years, with notable videos such as “The Best Dress in Film Series”, which have surpassed 2 million views. From 2023-2025, I creative-directed and edited for the podcast "Purse First," hosted by New York Times bestselling author Sesali Bowen and Emmy Award winner Prince Pierre. A lot of my work amplifies the voices of marginalized communities and discusses them through a pop culture lens, with tons of motion graphics and transitions.
