I’ve worked with Tobi for almost 4 years across multiple channels. He's an exceptionally talented writer. From History Scripts to True Crime, he’s hit the nail every time. Oh, and he has better English than me, and English is my first language, so that says a lot. It makes it extremely easy to work and communicate with him!
Retained source review
I’m Tobi Marho, the guy behind hundreds of YouTube videos that hook viewers in the first ten seconds and keep them watching to the end card. For the past few years I’ve been the quiet engine room for channels across true-crime, history, pop-culture commentary, and “did-you-know” rabbit holes. My job: take raw research, voice notes, and scattered clip suggestions, then spin them into scripts that read like your smartest friend telling a story over generous slices of pizza. I break each piece into tight modules; cold-open tease, timestamped clip cues, brisk VO, on-screen text, and punchy visual directions so editors can drop my words straight onto the timeline without hunting for context. What I’ve learned doing it every day: Audience first. I open with a cliffhanger, answer the “why should I care?” inside 60 seconds, and seed curiosity every minute after. Retention is king. I use hard scene cuts, {{insert b-roll}} markers, and rhythmic sentence lengths to keep watch-time high. Research without the dust. I translate heavy facts into clear, street-level language. Voice-over ready. My scripts land at 150–160 wpm, balanced for drama and breath. When I’m not sculpting YouTube narratives, I’m storyboarding my own short film “Ololufe,” mentoring up-and-coming writers at Film Rats, or jotting down overheard dialogue for the next big idea. Need a script that feels human, hits algorithm goals, and sails smoothly from doc to edit bay? Let’s talk.
