About
Fernanda Frick (Santiago, Chile, 1991) is an animation director, illustrator, storyboard artist, and comic creator with over a decade of experience telling grounded and emotionally resonant stories. Her work, whether in short films, advertising, or publishing, has been praised for its sincerity, warmth and visual style.
Her fourth short film, Here's the Plan, was selected and awarded at festivals around the world, including SIGGRAPH Asia (Jury Prize), CICFF, Anima Mundi, Chilemonos, SANFIC, and the Nashville International Film Festival. It was also long-listed for the 2017 Academy Awards. In 2023, she released a picture book adaptation of the film with Editorial Planeta. Alongside her first graphic novel, Trazos (Planeta, 2019), both books have been read in Chilean schools by students from 6th to 11th grade.
She has worked in both 2D and CG animation, including as an Art Director at the US-based studio Nathan Love, and previously led her own boutique animation studio. With a multidisciplinary background and experience producing original IPs, her projects have been finalists at international markets such as Pixelatl, Ventana Sur, and Chilemonos.
Fernanda also acted as Creative Director for a musical segment in Yo Gabba Gabba Land! for Apple TV+. Her next graphic novel, Raise the Bar, will be published by Dial/Penguin Books USA in 2026.
