About
Adnan Ssenkumba is a rare and prolific Film Editor from Uganda who fluidly moves between video editing and sound design for film. After three years of training, school, workshop, and personal efforts, Adnan made a stunning entry into the Ugandan film industry with Black Hall, a Maisha Film Lab short film (2010), where he worked as a sound man. Originally trained as an actor at the Department of Performing Arts and Film at Makerere University Kampala, Uganda (2008-2011), Adnan drew his inspiration from some of the world’s best sound designers: Vivek Sachidanand (dubbing engineer and assistant sound designer for Slumdog Millionaire) and Kai Tebbel (post-production sound designer for The Dark Knight), who mentored him to attain various skills in sound recording and design. Adnan’s abilities are manifested in various big film projects in Uganda. In 2014, Adnan designed and final mixed Mira Nair’s short documentary A Fork, A Spoon and A Knight, as well as UNDP TV documentaries in South Sudan. He has worked as an audio final mixing engineer and audio post-production supervisor on Sanyu series for over three years, one of the biggest television dramas on DSTV. He has been nominated and won awards for best sound for several Ugandan films, both international and local, such as Tembele, 94 Terror, Lailah, When You Become Me, among others. Known for his sensitivity and inspiration to tell stories with picture and sound, Adnan’s imagination and ideas inspire those he works
