My name is Daimien Peters, a twenty-one-year-old African American male with a strong passion for education and technology. I was born in Georgia and diagnosed with autism at eighteen months, which presented communication challenges in my early schooling. Despite this, I graduated third in my class from Merry Acres Middle School in 2018 and earned honors at Westover Comprehensive High School in 2022. I also completed dual enrollment courses at Albany Technical College and earned my associate degree in November 2023. I’m now pursuing a bachelor's degree in elementary education at Georgia Southwestern State University. My experiences at Cooper Carver Elementary School in Dawson, Georgia, have profoundly shaped my desire to work with children. Since high school, I have worked there, first supporting the front office and later serving as an assistant teacher during summer school. This role allowed me to help struggling students learn and develop creative teaching methods. Currently, I work as a librarian at Cooper Carver Elementary, supporting students while continuing my studies. As I prepare for my future as an educator, I recognize the importance of maintaining student engagement and respect. While I sometimes hesitate to enforce discipline for fear of being seen as stern, I believe my creativity and commitment to fairness will help me create a nurturing classroom environment.
